3D file check
Open an STL or 3MF file to see it on our build plate and check it for common 3D printing problems. The file stays on your device until you request a quote.
STL files do not store units. Change this if the size looks wrong.
Drag to rotate, right-drag or two fingers to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom.
What the check looks for
- Watertight surface: holes, non-manifold edges and inside-out faces that confuse slicers.
- Size and units: whether it fits our build volumes, and files that look like they were exported in the wrong units.
- Overhangs: surfaces steeper than 45 degrees that need support material in the orientation shown.
- Thin walls: walls thinner than two nozzle widths, which can print weak or not at all.
- Bed contact and loose pieces: small footprints that may need a brim, and stray fragments left over from export.
This is an automatic check, not a guarantee. We look at every file before quoting and tell you about anything we need to fix. STEP and OBJ files are welcome too: attach them on the quote form.
